Frequently asked questions
about the men's textile jacket
What is textile in a motorcycle jacket?
Textile is a high-tenacity synthetic nylon fibre developed by DuPont. It is used in motorcycle jackets because it offers far higher abrasion resistance than conventional fabrics: it withstands impact with the asphalt without tearing, protecting the rider’s skin. The Invictus men’s textile jackets use 600D ballistic polyester.
Is a textile or leather jacket better for men?
It depends on the use. The leather jacket offers slightly higher abrasion resistance and a classic style, but it weighs more, is not waterproof and requires maintenance. The men’s textile jacket is more versatile: lighter, easily waterproofed with a membrane, washable and adaptable to all kinds of climates. For urban use and daily road riding, textile is the most practical option. For vintage or Café Racer rides, leather has more aesthetic appeal.
What's the difference between the Heracles and the Heracles Dakar?
The Invictus Heracles Dakar is a special edition of the Heracles developed in collaboration with the Rally Dakar. Constructively they are identical: same Textile D600, same three-layer system, same certified protectors and same size range. The difference is purely aesthetic: the Heracles Dakar features colours and a graphic design inspired by the toughest competition in the world. If you are looking for the same protection with a more adventurous and exclusive character, the Heracles Dakar is your jacket.
What protectors should a CE certified textile jacket have?
A jacket certified under the CE EN 17092 standard must include protectors on elbows and shoulders (level 1 or level 2). Back protection is not mandatory but is highly recommended; many models include a pocket to insert one. The Invictus men’s textile jackets include protectors on elbows, shoulders and back as standard, exceeding the minimum requirements of the standard.
Can you use a textile motorcycle jacket in summer?
Yes. The summer models feature mesh panels or vents that allow air circulation without sacrificing protection. In the Invictus men’s range, the Ícaro White model is designed specifically for summer: breathable fabric, strategic vents and certified protectors. For use in any season, the three-layer models (like Tulkas or Heracles) let you remove the thermal lining and the waterproof membrane in the warmer months.
How do you choose the size of a men's textile jacket?
To choose the right size for a textile jacket you should measure: chest circumference (under the armpits), waist circumference and arm length. Check the Invictus size guide available on the website and, if in doubt between two sizes, go up to the larger one for greater riding comfort. Invictus offers a free size exchange on all its models.
How much does a good men's textile jacket cost?
The price of a quality men’s textile jacket ranges from 100 € to 250 € in the mid-to-high range. Below 80 €, the protection and durability level is usually insufficient. At Invictus, the men’s textile jacket range goes from 124 € (Ícaro White, summer model) to 193.95 € (Tulkas three-layer, all year round), with very competitive value for money and free shipping and size exchange.
Are Invictus textile jackets waterproof?
The Invictus three-layer models (Heracles, Tulkas) include a removable waterproof membrane, which makes them waterproof jackets when the weather demands it. The more urban or summer-profile models (Ares, Atlas) are designed for dry weather and offer water resistance but not full waterproofing. In all cases the product description specifies the level of waterproofing.
What's the difference between a short and a three-quarter textile jacket?
The short jacket reaches the waist and is ideal for urban use, scooter or naked bike: nimbler for movement and with a more sporty look. The three-quarter or long jacket also covers the upper thighs, providing greater protection from wind and rain on the road, and is preferred for long trips. Invictus offers both options in its men’s range.
What is a three-layer motorcycle jacket?
A three-layer jacket is made up of three independent layers that combine according to the weather: the outer jacket in abrasion-resistant textile, an intermediate waterproof and windproof membrane (removable), and an inner thermal lining also removable. You can use all three together in winter, just the outer with the membrane in autumn or spring, or the jacket alone in summer. It is the most versatile option for the rider who rides all year round. At Invictus the three-layer models are the Heracles, the Heracles Dakar and the Tulkas.
